I remember seeing a program on television. It was about a couple of women who were doing big things and amazingly, there were all good friends or so they said.
The program however built in me a desire to have friends who are doing well in whatever path they have chosen in life. I want to be successful, I also want to have a circle of successful friends.
That night, I decided to pray about it. I pray about everything actually, from that annoying neighbor to that person I would like to have as my friend ๐๐. To cut the long story short, the outcome of the prayer was not what I expected.
I expected that I would begin to meet new friends but guess what I received? I got a word from God. An instruction to help me achieve my desire actually.
He told me to support and encourage the friends I have at present. This reply got me thinking and I realised that great achievements are not made in a day, it is a series of progression.
That from the dirty soil, comes the most beautiful flowers and plants that bears lush fruits .
Conversely, the same soil also produces weeds and bad plants. I decided that I wanted to be a fertilizer to my friends. To encourage them and to support their growth.
I haven’t done this so well in the past but I have made a conscious decision to do better.
Sometimes, having someone close to you believe in you makes a whole lot of difference.
In a world filled with pests and weed, let’s choose to be a fertilizer.
Has a loved one’s believe in you made any special difference in your life?
Keep Blooming ๐
Success in the world’s eyes, even our own, isn’t necessarily the same as God’s view. God calls us to deny ourselves, take up our crosses (be willing to die for Him) and follow Him. That doesn’t look like success to the world. Who is more successful in the world’s eyes? A rich prosperity preacher. Who is more successful in God’s eyes? A poor martyr to the Fulani!

I had to read and re-read your comment. It definitely has me thinking about what being successful means especially as a believer. I appreciate your insight.

Thank you. I can feel a post brewing on my blog, but just thinking about Jesus’ earthly life, it doesn’t really look successful in the world’s eyes- most of his life an obscure carpenter, and crucified as a common criminal aged about 33

” …life as an obscure carpenter , and crucified as a common criminal aged 33″ – this got to me. Right now I am working as a prosecutor and it brought about this image in my head. Let’s just say I am patiently waiting to feast on that post that you are brewing๐

I’m glad to see that you’re still blooming. I’m learning that some stages of growth are difficult, so we do indeed need friends who are fertilizer. Wonderful post, little sister. โค
